Banner Engineering introduces DXM150 Wireless Controllers Offer Expanded I/O Options

August 9, 2017

More Ways to Connect to Sensors, Indicators & Control Equipment

DXM Series wireless controllers integrate a wireless radio, cellular connectivity, and local I/O to facilitate device connectivity and communication and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications. The latest addition to this series, the new DXM150, builds on these capabilities by providing an expanded selection of I/O ports.

DXM150 Features & Benefits

  • Expanded I/O: Local I/O options, including isolated discrete inputs, universal inputs, SPDT (Form C) relay outputs, NMOS outputs, and analog outputs provide users with more ways to connect to local sensors, indicators, and control equipment.
  • Wired and Wireless Communication Options: The cellular modem option eliminates the need for IT infrastructures to connect remote equipment for sensing and control. The integrated wireless radio enables Modbus connectivity to remote sensors, indicators, and control equipment. RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet, and USB communication ports provide wired network connections.
  • Flexible Powering Options: Powered by 12 to 30 V dc, 12 V dc solar panel, or battery backup, the DXM150 can be deployed into a range of applications and locations without requiring significant changes to infrastructure.
  • Simple User Interface: An integrated LCD screen allows users to access system status and setup, view user selectable events or data, and to bind and perform site surveys for Sure Cross radio

Turck introduces new Compact IP67 Programmable Controller with CODESYS 3

August 7, 2017

Turck has released its TBEN-PLC CODESYS 3 compact IP67 PLC for controlling small or modular machines. Thanks to its robust housing and high degree of environmental protection, the TBEN-PLC can operate directly on-machine, enabling the implementation of machine control without the need for a control cabinet. Using machine automation concepts and the use of pre-assembled cordsets reduce the cabling effort and simplify installation.

The wide variety of fieldbus communication protocols supported underlines the tremendous flexibility of the new TBEN-PLC; when used as a master/scanner, the device supports the industrial Ethernet protocols Profinet, EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP, as well as Modbus RTU, CANopen and SAE J1939.

The TBEN-PLC can also be used as a remote IO device for Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU and CANopen networks, enabling use as a protocol converter or gateway. For example, the controller can function as a CANopen manager for a machine module and connect this local network to a higher level system communicating over Profinet. As part of the increasing digitization of industry, this enables existing machine controls to be integrated into modern closely networked, highly flexible production systems.

Two onboard serial ports can also be used to integrate RS-232/485 serial devices. The device provides eight configurable discrete I/O channels for the direct connection of sensors and actuators. When combined with Turck’s fieldbus technology products with IP67 protection, comprehensive machine control including safety technology can be completely implemented without the need for a control cabinet.

Banner Engineering introduces K50L2 LED Indicators with IO-Link

July 18, 2017

Select models of the recently released K50L2 series of multicolor RGB indicator lights are now available with IO-Link communication. The control capabilities offered by IO-Link combined with the color combinations available with RGB LEDs enable nearly limitless custom indication capabilities with single wire control.

Key Benefits of IO-Link:

  • Customized Indication: Communicating through an IO-Link master device, users have full control of indicator color, flashing, and light intensity and can access millions of colors and advanced animations, such as rotation, strobing, 2-color display, 2-color display with rotation, 2-color flashing, and chase, where a single color spot appears in a background of another color while rotating—an effective display for indicating that a machine is in startup condition.
  • Simplified Wiring: Indicators can be connected using standard unshielded 4-wire cables, which reduces the time and expense required for installation and simplifies inventory requirements.
  • Drop-in Installation: An IO-Link master device saves configuration data and automatically updates new indicators, enabling quick, easy replacement of indicator lights.

Turck introduces New M08 Proximity Sensor Lineup Featuring Extended Sensing Ranges

May 30, 2017

Turck announces its new range of 8 mm barrel inductive proximity sensors. The technology of the ferrite core sensors has evolved, increasing the sensing range by up to 50 percent. As a result, flush mounted solutions can now be offered with an extended sensing range of 3 mm as well as with the conventional sensing range of 2 mm. The non-flush sensors are likewise available with a 3 or 5 mm sensing range. Thanks to the newly developed sensor electronics, Turck is also now able to produce devices with an ultra-short 15 mm design.

The modular development approach of the sensor series has led to a broad range of variants that allows users to find the ideal 8 mm barrel sensor for their application, without having to compromise. The sensors are available in 15, 22, 30 and 40 mm lengths. On the connectivity side, Turck is offering M8 or M12 connectors as well as sensors with a cable outlet, which in turn can be ordered with a 3- or 4-wire connection as NC or changeover contacts.

The sensors with a cable outlet are provided with a cable suitable for E-chain use, and a semi-transparent LED ring at the sensor end, which shows the sensing state from any viewing angle. The sensors are IP67 rated, and have an operating temperature of -25 °C to 70 °C.
